A Fairtrade Church

Junior Church

We have an active Junior Church which forms part of our morning worship. A creche is available for the younger children subject to demand - see a steward on arrival. Some Junior Church children also participate in our newly formed Music Group. As well as special Youth services aimed at our younger people various other activities such as games afternoons take place during the year.

Together in Prayer

At Bracknell Methodist church we believe that prayer helps to build a sense of community and it ensures that the life and ministry of the church is fully supported and keeps in tune with God's spirit and leading. The prayer meeting is held on the second Thursday of each month at 8pm in the church. Each meeting begins with a brief opportunity for people to mention those things that they would like to be included in the prayers.

House Groups

As an extension to our worship there are house groups and prayer groups which meet during the week in member's homes. House groups are fortnightly on Tuesday evenings and prayer groups on the alternate Tuesdays. For details see Ross Mitchell.

Friday Study Group

The Friday Study Group meets for a series of 5 weeks each term on Fridays at 10am for coffee with the discussion starting at 10.15am.  Each series has a theme.  So far these have been King David,  The Thinking of John Wesley, Stewardship in our World (Climate Change, Use of Energy, Trade etc), The Twelve Prophets, 2 series on Hymn Writers, The Apostle Paul, Sacraments and Prayer. See our Church News page for details of the current course (next course in the autumn, subject 'The Psalms'). Small children are welcome and are catered for.  The leader is Mary Elms.

Tuesday Afternoon Fellowship

The Women's Fellowship has always been a much valued and appreciated part of church life at Bracknell Methodist Church, helping out at many church events and raising money from coffee mornings. From September 2009 it is called Tuesday Afternoon Fellowship and is open to both men and women. They meet on alternate Tuesdays at 1.45 at Bracknell Methodist Church. The meetings are not restricted to church members or to any 'particular age range', so all are welcome. Speakers are invited and there are discussions covering a variety of subjects. Other activities include a Christmas and Easter Lunch, fund raising and day tips. For further information and details of our forth coming programme please contact Celia Simms.

Sunday Lunch

Sunday Lunch happens monthly. It's a real home cooked meal with fresh ingredients. The team is in fact committed to fresh, seasonal, fairly traded products. The purpose of these lunches is quite simply fellowship. A chance for people not to have to rush off, but to stay and get the chance to talk to each other. Any profit is ploughed into buying essential kitchen equipment, as well as into the church's charity of the year. Details of our next lunch may be found on the News page, for further information please contact Mary Elms.

Faith Exploration

Faith Exploration meets on Thursday from 1.30 - 2.30pm at the church.  We read the Bible together.  Most of the group have little or no past experience of reading the Bible and no question is considered too simple or too silly,  neither does it matter if it's been asked before.  We have some good discussions as a result.  The choice of reading reflects the interests and queries of the group members rather than any scheme chosen by the leaders.  We end with a short period of quiet followed by a prayer after which most of the group go in to join Tea Break.  The leaders are Mary Elms and Irene Robinson.

A Woosenell Walk

Woosnell Walks

Usually held on the third Sunday of each month, these are country walks of 3-5 miles in length. Members of our church join those of Woosehill Community Church for a pleasant (or sometimes rather wet..) afternoon. See the notices for dates and start points.

Here the team are pictured outside Arborfield Church at the start of one of the walks.
